West 7th Community Center is an independent non-profit 501(c)(3) multi-service organization with 35 years of success in serving residents of Saint Paul’s West 7th neighborhood. Operating from a welcoming, centrally located facility, West 7th offers after school and summer school programs for children, comprehensive in-home and center-based services for seniors, including strong Meals on Wheels and visiting nurse programs, and an outreach and referral program for families to help ensure that each person in our neighborhood has the opportunity to be stable and successful. Meals on Wheels Expansion! Our Meals on Wheels senior lunch program has expanded by 25% as of February 19th with the addition of 20 new clients who were formerly served by the Hallie Q. Brown Community Center. This increases the West 7th Meals on Wheels deliveries to an average of about 100 hot meals each day. Along with this expansion comes a need for more volunteer drivers to help us to deliver these meals. Our needs are flexible - even once a month volunteers are appreciated. For more information call Emily at 651-298-5493 Ext. 208 or via efugere@west7th.org. Hearts and Hammers a Success! The West 7th neighborhood ran a successful campaign this fall for our Hearts and Hammers project. Of the more than 30 applications submitted, 15 homes were selected to receive free remodeling and house repairs this spring. These repairs will take place on Sat., May 17th, where 300 - 400 volunteers will complete this work. Mayor Chris Coleman is expected to personally thank some of the volunteers that day. West 7th Launches Senior Homemaking Program On September 4th, six former employees of the popular Sisters' Care became the newest staff of the West 7th Community Center. Sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, Sisters' Care had offered quality homemaking and respite services to seniors throughout Saint Paul for twenty years. With the help and sponsorship of the former Sisters' Care staff, the program at West 7th already has more than 60 clients for regular weekly services. While the focus of the program is on the West 7th and Westside communities, the services will be offered throughout the southeastern quadrant of Saint Paul. For more information, please contact Maureen Davidson 651-298-5493 Ext. 205 or Hallie Finke 651-298-5493 Ext. 207. Click here to visit our Homemaking Web page.
